Learning Manager: Outreach and Communities
Deadline: 5pm, Friday 18 October 2013
Salary: £25,000 - £29,000 pa (FTE, Permanent)
Reporting to: Head of Learning and Engagement
V&A at Dundee will be an international centre for design, housed in a world-class building at the heart of Dundee's revitalised waterfront. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate our design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent, and encourage design innovation for the future. Unlike any other museum in Scotland, V&A at Dundee will focus on design - not design as a separate discipline, but its everyday impact - how it can delight, make things work and ultimately change lives. V&A at Dundee aims to do what every good museum does - to inform, educate and entertain - but also explicitly, through its wider programmes, intends to generate new creativity and innovation across Scotland.
The Learning Manager: Outreach and Communities will be responsible for developing and delivering large-scale community outreach projects locally and nationally (pre- and post-opening) within a strategic framework and for achieving tangible social outcomes through the programmes. The post holder will have a considerable track record of managing outreach projects in a museum, gallery or other cultural context. They will line-manage and work closely with the Outreach and Communities Producer and be responsible for seeking funding opportunities, developing audiences and developing strategic partnerships for the V&A at Dundee Outreach programme. They will have experience of working with a diverse range of audiences including hard to reach audiences such as people living in areas of multiple deprivation, people not in education, employment or training, black and minority ethnic (BAME) communities and remote communities in Scotland.
They will make connections with communities locally and across Scotland and engage people with their own and others' design heritage and with contemporary Scottish and international design in order to raise aspirations, remove barriers to participation, create opportunities for skills development and training, encourage enterprising activities and demonstrate how involving people with design can improve their environment, their lives and the economy.
Interviews will be held on Monday 11th November 2013 at V&A at Dundee's project office in Dundee.
Reimbursement of interview expenses incurred within the UK will be made with prior arrangement.
V&A at Dundee is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
This opportunity is available in: Dundee
