Design Dundee Ltd (DDL) is driving the V&A at Dundee project. DDL is a partnership between the V&A, the University of Dundee, the University of Abertay Dundee, Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise.
The V&A was established in 1852 and is today regarded as the number one museum of art and design in the world.
The University of Dundee (ranked in the world’s top 200 universities) includes the highly regarded Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and School of Architecture - consistently rated in the top 10% of the UK’s art and design colleges over the last decade.
The University of Abertay Dundee was the first British University to offer courses in computer games technology. Its Institute of Arts, Media and Computer Games is a centre of excellence and has contributed to Dundee's reputation in gaming innovation.
Dundee City Council has overseen a cultural renaissance in the City over the past 20 years. Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee Rep Theatre, the Space (home to the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance), and the recently reopened and refurbished McManus Galleries are playing a part in re-establishing Dundee as a centre for art and culture.
Scottish Enterprise is supporting a number of initiatives to promote Scotland's digital media and tourism industries. Together with Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise is driving the Dundee Waterfront regeneration programme.
